For the love of spray paint

Hello, my name is Catherine and I am addicted to spray paint. From where I sit on my couch, I see five things that I have spray painted. It keeps me up at night thinking about what I will spray paint next. (Tomorrow, it is a mirror and a bathroom light fixture.) Seriously, I would probably spray paint you if you sat still in my house long enough.

Recently, after an unfortunate series of events, we ended up with an old nasty dryer in our mudroom. We are a back-door family so I pass by this eyesore of a dryer every time I come and go, not to mention the 40 times a day our 75 pound dog has to go outside. One day, my husband said to me: “Why don’t you spray paint it?” Genius! Why didn’t I think of that?! Off to Home Depot in Ashland I went (insider tip: it has the best customer service and best spray paint collection in the Richmond area). I returned with two cans of Lagoon in satin, a lovely teal that would complement my KitchenAid mixer and FiestaWare perfectly. Since I have a 2 year old muddy boy and a contractor husband, this project had to be timed on a day that there was no laundry to be done and good weather so it could dry. The days turned into weeks until we found the perfect day. As I waited for the last load to dry so I could commence with the makeover, the dryer cut off. And it never restarted. Our new one arrives tomorrow but I was so excited about the Lagoon that, for a moment, I considered painting the new one. I realize it would likely void the warranty, so I won’t. Instead I will wait patiently until it, too, becomes old and, in the meantime, paint everything else.

A few poor pics of my favorite completed projects are below, including a shot of the almost-painted ugly dryer sitting by our driveway waiting for one lucky CraigsList stalker.
